/u/raw-shan It's too hot. Please ban sun from rising. |
/u/EvenAd8214 Honestly, I wouldn't blame them for panicking after
losing over 100 million plus users overnight.
Their ad revenue is going to nosedive harder than their
dreams of launching telegram as an IPO.
Following in the footsteps of China, Russia, and Iran,
India might seriously be the next country to permanently
ban Telegram especially after that the UN has officially
labeled the platform a primary, unregulated ecosystem
for international crime syndicates.
Do students care about this? No. We've always just used
WhatsApp and Insta anyway.
Leftists are the only ones crying about it but then
again, one day they'll support international platforms
and the next day they'll hate them, depending on
whatever fits their agenda. |
/u/Jazzifyy Do students care about this? |
/u/EvenAd8214 What are you using telegram for? That WhatsApp or insta
can't do? |
/u/EvenAd8214 Bruh, I meant by students during an exam.
Also, that low quality stuff is weak, the internet is
filled with some really high quality stuff.
You can get some HDR DV content. Plus, Telegram
download speed is like the pre 2014 3G era level. |
/u/destructo_6t9 I'm just telling you what most "students" use TG for.
When I say piracy, I mean links that redirect to piracy
websites for downloads. |
/u/Jazzifyy The point was to resist stupid government interventions
and not "oH bUt NoOnE uSeS TELEGRAM aNyWAys". |
/u/EvenAd8214 Oh, sorry. I didn't know we were hating without logic.
Go on ahead. |
/u/zqwz These type of bans are just a way for govt to shift the
blame to someone other than themselves. It puts telegram
on the spotlight.
You and I can see through it and realize it is foolish.
But for 99.9% of people who are not technsavvy, this is
strict govt action against the culprit. And that is why
it is done, because govt knows it is very effective to
show they took some strong action. And thus feel like
they are in control of the situation.
Govt also made it Airforce's duty to transport the
question papers from now on so that people think it is
the transportation that was the issue, and since people
tend to trust the military blindly, this looks like a
definitive action. It also absolves govt of future leaks
to some extend. Any activity done by military is not
investigable by outsiders, so any future leaks also
remain classified
One more thing to ponder. If current leaks happened
because leak got too mainstream, is it possible that
rich and influential people like politicians kid had
secret access to question papers for past many years,
and just that we did not catch it? If it were me, I
would investigate every politicians kid who got into
premier institutions in past several years. |
/u/Adventurous-Feed-197 how long before the blame of these leaks goes to civic
sense of Indians somehow lol |
/u/musci12234 Of course. If people had civic sense paper wouldn't get
leaked. Paper get leaked in India every day but they
never get leaked in China and Japan. It is
responsibility of peoe to learn civic sense. Don't know
why govt is expected to do everything like enforcing
basic law and order, arrest corrupt people etc. |
/u/Adventurous-Feed-197 you dont "learn" civic sense automatically, its not some
gene, decades of quality education is required, do we
have that, have we ever, whose responsibility is it?
we are diverse, alot, and since years on years we've
been segregated and hated each other, in such a low
trust society, why the hell would you expect us to
become Japan and China?
this is such a dumb excuse passed on to save the
government's face
This has to be a joke XD |
/u/NoApple8581 The above comment IS a joke, dude. They're being
sarcastic. |
/u/Adventurous-Feed-197 thank god lol enough reddit for today |
/u/zqwz Yes, because it is security-theater.

/u/sed_life19 Any ban can be bypassed by vpn thts the point of vpn,
could you elaborate more on what's even a proper ban? |
/u/Walt925837 Maybe we should all invest in creating a VPN server.
Cheap and effective. You can probably keep it always on. |
/u/musci12234 I feel like govt believes the re neet paper got leaked
and by pushing blame on to the apps they can pre built a
narrative about how it is all due to these apps |
/u/Sweaty_Explorer_8441 what about changing DNS |
/u/Eagle__Gunner How long will these gimmicks work. People are becoming
more and more aware of these antics. |
/u/yxk__0zvnb9pl politicians kids study outside |
/u/Narender_moody This is the most India thing ever.
I went to my local park for a run. The guard there
stops me and says "running is not allowed in the park".
I ask him why and his reply is that some guy ran into
an old lady and had a collision. A year back. Post which
he decided to take matters into his own hands and
enforce the no running law.
Not the govt. Not BBMP. Him. Cuz people running in
parks is the problem. Genius strategy /s |
/u/Historical-Jump huh? how does that work local park means public property
right how can anyone tell you what to do |

/u/Thouimagine1035 Well... Seems reasonable |
/u/musci12234 Considering the number of exams that happen in India
India can afford to have a dedicated system for
generating papers from massive question bank in a
completely automated way with end to end printing and
transmission for online exam. |
/u/Subject-Duty6324 Telegram did direct Slap on face of those who accused
telegram for paper leaks π |

/u/batman8232 and that's why he is upset to know tg is banned |
/u/hap_mod Dumbest move in Tech. |
/u/Eagle__Gunner The leak is from the inside. Instead of using digital
examinations why is there still a pen and paper exam.
Let the system decide which paper will be served on the
exam date. This can be done but no let us ban the
internet for a exam which does not relate to 99percent
of people. Next what ban internet for college exams,
upsc. Brains dead people are administering this country. |

/u/missedOpportunity343 The ban is irrelevant to exams.
BJP is just testing the waters by guaging how youth
reacts to the temporary ban. Nepal exploded with social
media restrictions.
BJP tests water first before banning something. Just
like they started designating some days as "veg-only"
days in certain places. in preparation for completely
mark some festive days as veg only.
always test the waters with a long stick. |
/u/wanderingacademician just jumping on the bandwagon and capitalising it. |
/u/Kaushik_paul45 Seems like he was asking a question. His statement ended
with ?
Probably what he meant was "are we really considering
telegram ban as masterstroke". |
/u/shubc30 Also the other thing is, telegram messages are
encrypted, end to end, unlike WhatsApp on which
unencrypted key is available, so if there might be an
paper leak through WhatsApp, cyber security can track
those person. Kudos to telegram for such heavy
encryption |

/u/suryavanshi_arya I get the govt job hype now. As long as you can navigate
the internal cancerous dehati politics, regardless of
how retarded you are, or how much of a POS you are, you
will be blameless. Oh also the side income(bribe) to do
the job you are paid for by the taxpayer |

/u/Pretty_Piccolo2010 That is a world-class roast from Telegram, but
realistically, how does the government expect to enforce
a ban when every student in India already knows how to
use a basic proxy or VPN to bypass ISP blocks anyway ? |
/u/aisekaise13 they will ban them on twitter also for speaking against
them |
/u/kenjikazama777 Why is Indian government picking a fight with Russia now

/u/Im_a_PeakyBlinder It's a valid crash out by telegram because the
government is still not sure that paper won't leak. They
should also ban whatsapp, reddit, quick share, airdrop
and all because the paper can leak from anywhere. |
/u/thehroshaktimaan So now the primary concern of everyone is not about
stoppage of leakage of exam paper but about the steps
taken by govt to stop it. Everyone wants everything but
no one wants a simple discomfort. They have agencies
with them, they must have some info for banning it..this
apple and oranges logic does not work everywhere..
security agencies block social media, internet during
riots etc..do we bash them at that time too? |
/u/EvenAd8214 After China, Russia, Iran, etc., I think India might be
next to permanently ban Telegram.
βTelegram will be sour as their dream of launching an
IPO will remain just a dream after losing 100 million
users.
βPirated low quality (360p-480p) content enjoyers
will also be sad to lose their low quality stuff. |
/u/Organic_Pattern9743 I get the trolling of the government. But Telegram
taking the moral high ground here is comical given the
fact that they haven't been able to stop all types of
criminal activities on their app- piracy, child porn,
terrorism, black market, literally everything. |
/u/sreekanth850 Shopping Malls doesn't orchestrate for mass violence or
any such illegal activities, they operate according to
the law of the land. But telegram does orchestrate for
piracy at a larger scale. Why do you think piratebay
founders were jailed? |
/u/CandidateNo9453 Real ID se aao IT Cell |
/u/sreekanth850 Ha Ha. IB here. Tracking who are defending. |
/u/Livid_Setting_7104 So banning telegram will solve all issues? We should
shut the whole internet then. |
/u/sreekanth850 So jailing a criminal will end all criminal activities?
if not why do we jail them? Internet is like world, it
doesn't orchestrate piracy, it's done by such app that
orchestrate piracy. if its again the elaw of land it has
to be banned. Do you know how much movies are got out in
teelgram? |
/u/Livid_Setting_7104 You are right. Ban telegram. Don't catch the source.
There is no other source of communication in the country
so this help prevent the leak . /s |
/u/sreekanth850 Yes. Take drug trafficking, for example. If the system
cannot track the root source, by your logic, the carrier
should not be caught. But do they arrest carriers, or do
they let them go simply because they are unable to track
the source? I still don't understand your issue.
Telegram is a hub for piracy, just like The Pirate Bay.
Why are you supporting piracy? Catching the source is a
separate problem. |
/u/Livid_Setting_7104 Why do you think leak can't happen through WhatsApp,
Instagram, Facebook and on this very platform reddit?
Telegram is a messaging platform like them all. You
think piracy don't happen on other platforms? By your
logic , if this is such a good decision, why not ban
internet itself? π |
/u/sreekanth850 Because WhatsApp is essentially tied with a phone number
and anything can be tracked to the source identity due
to KYC. Telegram is not like that. And Insta and FB are
not end to end encrypted on their DMs. |
/u/Livid_Setting_7104 What if someone get an international number? Banning a
messaging app is stupid. If you are not getting it, then
fine. Be happy, take care . |
/u/throwaway120182873 Is there any Indian alternative to Telegram? May be a
good candidate for Made in India app. |
/u/Any-Individual5262 That zoho guy's app Arattai. But it's backed by RSS |
/u/throwaway120182873 Is there any proof behind RSS backing? |
/u/batman8232 Yeah so they can use the app directly during the exam |
